Quire is a reading app. When someone using it follows a story on your site, their device reads the public feed for that one story — the feed your site publishes — to learn when a new chapter appears. That is the entire interaction.
At most once per hour per story, with conditional requests (If-None-Match / If-Modified-Since) so an unchanged feed costs you a 304. Never more than one request at a time to your site from a device. We back off on 429 and 503 and honour Retry-After. After repeated failures a story is polled once a day, then marked stale to its reader.
Write to us and we will stop reading your feeds. We would also rather hear from you than be blocked — if there is a rate, a User-Agent or an endpoint you prefer, tell us and we will use it.
